Venetian masks and masquerading have been a common practice among Venetians since the 12th century. During carnival time, social distinctions were abandoned and the anonymity of the masks gave free rein to the fantasies, passions, and desires of the masked courtesans. This vibrant celebration continues to this day, brought to life through the craftsmanship and meticulous details of Domenico Sartore.
Doge was the political leader in the Venetian Republic from the 1300 to the 1700. Typical of the Doge was the three-cornered hat and white powdered wigs. On the Saturday before Carnival, Doge would hold a masquerade ball for all noble men and women of Venezia in his beautiful palace " Palazzo dei Dogi".
Ceramic wall mask 10.00"h painted by hand by the Venetian Master artist Domenico Sartore decorated with jewel-toned colors and Swarosky crystals. This mask have a hole built in on the backside for easy hang up on the wall.
